Discovery World Science Museum, Milwaukee, WI

The Discovery World Science Museum employed me as a Theater Science Technician and Manager. I assisted in coordinating the Audio Visual elements during the live Science show and operating high voltage equipment including two 20,000,000 volt Tesla Coils, a Van deGraff generator, a Plasma generator, laser beams and more.

A demonstration of the two 20,000,000 volt Tesla Coils can be seen in this video at about the 2:05 mark. We did not have people in the protective cage when I worked at the museum.

Johnson Controls Inc.

Johnson Controls Inc. hired me to work in their Humboldt and Downtown manufacturing facilities. I worked as a machine operator, light electronics assembler and also in their plating department and stockroom, filling orders and packaging electronic and computer parts.

The work was brutal, physically demanding and monotonous. The pay was very good and the benefits were better.

On the bad side JCI refused to modernize their equipment to reduce on the job injuries to prevent repetitive motion injuries. The pension of the workers under 25 years of age was taken from us, but we were not allowed to collect the money.

In the mid 1980's our plant was shut down so that Johnson Controls could fulfill their obligations to the share holders and replace the union employees with Mexican workers working for 1/10 of our wages with no benefits. Michael Moore confronted Johnson Controls in his movie "The Big One."

Auction Genie - eBay drop-off store

One of my favorite jobs was working at Auction Genie, an eBay drop-off store in New Jersey.

People would bring in items to sell and we would evaluate the item to see if it would sell on eBay. Collectibles and electronics were popular items. We did research and discovered that items like Hummel figurines and marbles were big sellers. $60 to $100 sales for Hummels were common. I accepted the oxblood, egg yoke colored marbles sold which sold for about $380 dollars.

In addition to the brochure pictured above, I also made sure we were found on Google using SEO techniques and claiming our spot on Google Maps.

I wrote and produced two videos that appeared on YouTube.

xtranormal is a great site and I have experience producing videos there. Here is a sequel, demonstrating Auction Genie's success!

SK Hat Shop

For several years I worked at SK Hat Shop. Sales began on eBay and I encouraged the owner to expand venues to include Amazon.com, eCrater and finally the exclusive skhatshop.com website.

I was responsible for writing descriptions and making coffee.

I brew exceptional coffee.

Working at The Waldorf=Astoria

When I arrived in New York City in 1990 one of the hotels I worked in was the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, staging and providing technical assistance for corporate meetings, parties and important events. These are some of the many meeting rooms I worked in.
